During the first quarter, I learned a lot about how the internet came to be and who the key figures were, both in the Philippines and internationally. Ma'am Evelyn’s discussions were really helpful in explaining the history of the internet and how it has grown over the years. Learning about the internet timeline showed me how it started from something small and became something we all use daily. I also found it interesting to explore the different types of websites and blogs, like vlogs (video blogs), moblogs (mobile blogs), music blogs, and photologs (photo-based blogs). It helped me understand the wide variety of content that can be shared online and how each type of blog has its own unique way of connecting with an audience.
Despite gaining a lot of new information, there were some challenges along the way. One of the main difficulties I faced was understanding the technical aspects of how the Internet works and remembering all the details from the timeline, like the key events and people who made the Internet what it is today. Sometimes, I felt like I needed help trying to keep track of the differences between the various types of blogs, especially since so many have different formats and purposes. It was also challenging to remember which internet pioneers contributed to what, especially since some of the information felt new and unfamiliar.
To overcome these challenges, I spent extra time reviewing the lessons and asking questions when I didn’t fully understand something. Breaking down the lessons into smaller, more manageable sections made it easier for me to process the information. I also did some additional research on the internet timeline and watched videos about the internet’s history, which helped reinforce what I had learned. Doing this made it easier to remember the key points, and I started to feel more comfortable with the material as I studied further. Practicing identifying different types of blogs also helped me see the differences more clearly.
Moving forward, I plan to build on what I’ve learned by staying curious about how the internet and content creation continue to evolve. I want to apply the things I’ve learned practically, maybe by trying to create my own blog or exploring other online content platforms. I believe that by doing this, I will not only improve my understanding but also gain more experience with digital content, which will help me in the future as the internet and technology continue to grow.
